April 26, 1975 – July 26, 2021
Born Nathan Jonas "Joey" Jordison in Des Moines, Iowa, Joey Jordison was best known as the original drummer for Slipknot and given the title #1 in the nine member group.
Jordison was a member of Slipknot from 1995 - December of 2013. Jordison formed the group Murderdolls alongside Wednesday 13 and they released two full studio records before disbanding.
Jordison formed Scar The Martyr in 2013 and that band lasted until 2016
Jordison performed with many notable acts including Rob Zombie, Metallica, Ministry, Korn, Satyricon, and Otep.
In 2001, Jordison created a remix of "The Fight Song" by Marilyn Manson.
Jordison also appeared in the music video for Manson's cover of "Tainted Love.” Manson revealed that Jordison had been working with him on his album The Golden Age of Grotesque. Jordison had recorded guitar parts but the track did not appear on the album.
2004 - Jordison performed with Satyricon on their tour of the United States when drummer Frost was denied entry into the country.
2006 - Jordison joined Ministry for their "MasterBaTour 2006", which consisted of 60 dates across the U.S. and Canada.
Jordison was a touring drummer with Rob Zombie after Tommy Clufetos left. Jordison stayed with Zombie for about a year and Jordison recorded four additional songs with Rob Zombie for the re-release of Hellbilly Deluxe 2.
Most recently Jordison was performing with the band Sinsaenum.
Jordison revealed in June 2016 that he suffered from transverse myelitis, a neurological disease that cost him the ability to play the drums toward the end of his time with Slipknot.
In a January 2018 interview Jordison talked about suffering from acute transverse myelitis with symptoms starting in 2010, but not being diagnosed for a long time. This progressed to the loss of use of his left leg. The neurological disease had temporarily cost him the use of his legs and caused him to be unable to play the drums before rehabilitation. He recovered with the aid of medical help and intensive work in the gym.
TMZ reported: 2:09 PM PT -- Law enforcement sources tell TMZ Jordison was pronounced dead at the scene ... we're told no foul play is suspected and there were no illegal drugs found at the house. The medical examiner will now work to determine an official cause of death.
Joey died in his sleep Monday, July 26, 2021, according to his family. The cause of death is unclear, but a statement from his loved ones says he passed away peacefully.
The family says Joey's death "has left us with empty hearts and feelings of indescribable sorrow" ... and they're remembering him as a prolific drummer, musician and artist with a quick wit, gentle personality and giant heart.
All Slipknot social media have changed their profile picture to black as a tribute to Jordison and many of his peers have posted tributes to him:

Acey Slade (Murderdolls/Misfits/Dope) -
I guess it's time you take the 'Sad Vacation' Johnny Thunders always talked about.
Murderdolls started when Slipknot was on top of the world. You could have done anything. But we started this band of 3 chord reprobates.
A lot of people said it was a terrible idea.
But most fun and insane ideas usually get that warning I'm sure.
I'm glad you didn't heed their warnings. The same people likely said the same thing about your other band.
That’s what made you one of a kind. Not just insanely talented, but tenacious in your creative vision.
Thank you for being a part of the best time of my life.
Mushroomhead - Mushroomhead would like to extend our sincerest condolences to the Slipknot family. We are extremely saddened to hear about the passing of Joey Jordison. Rest In Peace, #1.
Daron Malakian (System of a Down) - So sad to hear about the passing of my old friend Joey Jordison. Joey and I would hang out a lot when our bands toured together. He even came to my house a few times and we had some cool jam sessions. Such a great drummer and a cool person. I have so many great memories of our time together. Joey you will be missed my brother. R.I.P my brother.
