SICK PUPPIES / CHARMING LIARS
October 12, 2013
This particular night started with an ending and finished with a new beginning....weird how that sorta stuff works, huh?
The venue was filled in fairly decent by the time Charming Liars kicked off their set but the sad reality was that the band had very little if any stage room which hindered the bands onstage movements and forced them to pull out all the stops fast & early because much like their stage space their set time was minimal. The band had to pick & choose which songs to play & for the rush that was the Charming Liars set I’d say they did a great job of getting the crowd pumped!
Red Light Kings were next and their set was quite boring with standard radio rock and in my opinion the bands onstage energy was lackluster for this being their last night on the tour. The biggest mistake Red Light Kings made was during their short set they included a drum solo which ate up their show time and probably the most memorable moment of their set was when members of Sick Puppies took the stage & placed Burger King paper crowns on the band members heads as an end of tour prank.
Sick Puppies were the featured act of the night and they sounded great with full utilization of their stage space and cool lights.
When you see Sick Puppies live you realize just how many hits they have because much of their set was comprised of radio singles and even a partial Rage Against the Machine cover to boot!
At the end of the show they had a “golden ticket” promotion which basically entitled any fan who bought merch a “golden ticket” to meet the band at the end of the night.
All in all Sick Puppies put on a kick ass rock show and what I truly appreciated about their set was the fact that their show was 100% live with NO samples, NO backing tracks & what you heard was played live onstage!
