At first glance it’s easy to pass off Prophets of Addiction as just another glam/sleaze band from the LA Rock scene; the band actually calls Seattle home and frontman Lesli Sanders joked post show that most of the Seattle grunge bands were all fans of Hanoi Rocks and glam metal in general.
Prophets of Addiction are on a 3 month Summer tour across the USA and they made a stop at the Ottobar in Baltimore, Maryland on August 10, 2016.
Drummer Jimmy Mess wandered the venue throughout the night and his presence was impossible to miss; the man is an androgynous totem pole that wore a leopard print skirt with vinyl leggings on this night; his hair was tattered and his make up was reminiscent of Twiggy Ramirez (Marilyn Manson) during the “Portrait of an American Family” era.
Musically, POA are WASP meets New York Dolls; Lesli’s vocals are lean and gritty while G.G. and Rex intertwine treble soaked guitar tones which pay homage to both Tracii Guns and Johnny Thunders; Jimmy’s drumming holds the entire package together.
The Prophet’s visual image is what draws you in; their music is what seals the deal. Prophets of Addiction are keeping the glam rock image alive and delivering a sex/drugs/rocknroll spectacular to fans around the world.
Prophet’s were onstage long enough to leave you wanting more; they played a 50 minute set which cut to the chase with absolutely no filler.
