Adam Ant performed an awe inspiring show at Soundstage in downtown Baltimore on the evening of September 19, 2017. Adam and his band delivered a set list which covered the hits as well as lesser known gems.
Doors opened at 7 PM, Glam Skanks opened the show at 8 PM, and Adam Ant started his set at 9 PM. Glam Skanks were a fun opening act, their infectious brand of rock n roll is one part surf rock, 2 parts 70’s glam rock. Cheeky at times yet constantly entertaining, the Glam Skanks were the perfect band to open for Adam Ant.
Within 10 minutes of the Glam Skanks ending their set, the entire band were at their merch table to greet fans, take pictures, and sign autographs. Glam Skanks are very reminiscent of early The Donna’s.
Adam Ant’s band consisted of 2 guitar players, 2 drummers, bass, and Adam on lead vocals. The twin drum attack is what gave the music a “dance” feel at times and when you witness Adam Ant onstage you can clearly see his influence on pop culture. Marilyn Manson was influenced by Adam Ant in both style and sound.
“Vive Le Rock” sounded amazing, “Antmusic” sounded rich, “Strip” was interesting, and “Red Scab” was crunchy. “Goody Two Shoes” kicked off Adam’s encore and “Physical” was the nights closer.
At the Adam Ant Merch table you could purchase autographed Adam Ant posters for $40, a shirt would set you back $35, and various pins, guitar pics, and bracelets were also for sale. The shirt baring a vintage photo of Adam was the clear fan favorite for the Baltimore crowd.
By 10:50 PM Adam Ant said his thank you’s and exited the stage. A car waiting by the side entrance drove Adam away within 5 minutes of the shows ending.
