Powerman 5000 Set List:  Nobody’s Real, Invade Destroy Repeat, Hey That’s Right, Supervillain, Footsteps and Voices, Free, How To Be A Human, Horror Show (Sabotage, Bulls on Parade, Another One Bites The Dust, Neckbone, Killing In The Name Of - Medley), Cult Leader, Bombshell, Supernova Goes Pop, Sid Vicious In A Dress, When World’s Collide

Formed in 1991, Powerman 5000 is a nu metal cross over band fronted by the brother of Rob Zombie, Spider One.  Currently on tour in support of the bands 2017 release “New Wave”, Powerman 5000 made a stop at the Fish Head Cantina on a mild Friday evening.

Lullwater were direct support for this show and they brought a warm southern hard rock sound that sounded like Seven Mary Three at times.  The crowd seemed to enjoy the Lullwater set but it was apparent that Powerman 5000 was the main attraction and clearly the audience were biding their time until PM5K took the stage.

A thin gust of fog covered the stage and PM5K’s intro was the theme to Star Trek.  Every member of PM5K sported a Star Trek logo on their outfits and each musician had a laser pointer on their respective instruments which they shot into the audience.  The “Laser” instrument effect was reminiscent of a Kill Hannah live show.

Spider One has not changed since 1991; he has the same hair style and vocally sounds stronger than ever.

The current line up played well together and at this point the band members are there to simply serve as back up for Spider One.

During the song “Horror Show” a mini cover medley was performed.  Intertwined in the track were random moments from “Sabotage” by Beastie Boys, “Bulls on Parade” and “Killing In The Name Of” by Rage Against the Machine, “Neckbone” by PM5K, and “Another One Bites The Dust” by Queen.

Before the encore started Spider One performed an acapella cover of “Major Tom” by David Bowie.  The night ended with a raging rendition of “When World’s Collide” which brought the house down.
