2018 Gibson RD Guitar, Pussy Melter, 7Horse

By Bob Suehs

This is the fourth release from former members of alt rock act dada, Phil Leavitt and Joie Calio. Blending strong production with well crafted songs the duo create a sound that’s reminiscent of The Black Keys and Jack White.

Garage tones, punk rock energy, and elements of rock, pop, and blues flavor this release strongly.  “Victorious” opens this record with upbeat momentum and “Like a Star” has an almost rockabilly swagger to it’s rhythm.  When the lyric, “It’s Alright” is sang throughout “Like A Star” you can almost hear Elvis rhetorically adding “Momma” to the “It’s Alright”.

“All My Friends” is a standout track with a party vibe and an anthemic chorus.

“What Is America” has a radio friendly, commercial feel to it and is slightly reminiscent of “The Passenger” by Iggy Pop.

“Kicked In The Door” is a moving track that offers a mellower pace than most tracks on this release.

“Die Behind The Wheel” is a true barn burner and the hardest rocker off this record.

“Burn” closes the record with a memorable guitar riff and atmospheric vocals.

“Superfecta” by 7Horse is available on December 7th, 2018.  For more info on the band go to:
