Vocalist Josh Kiszka has grown into his role as frontman for the most important rock band of 2019, Greta Van Fleet, by taking charge of his own destiny and fearlessly leading the new rock revolution.
Josh took the stage with a weird stage rap that mentioned free caviar and champagne at the end for those who lasted the duration. "Smoke em if you got em" was blurted out just before the band broke into "Cold Wind".
Josh jokingly asked if anyone had fallen into the water yet since the venue is set on Baltimore's Inner Harbor. The evening was absolutely beautiful for a rock show and the mild weather was the perfect setting.
"Safari Song" was the second song in the set and immediately followed by "Highway Tune" which shocked most of the crowd because gvf chose to perform their biggest songs early in the set!
Guitarist Jake Kiszka has true rock n roll swagger and his guitar riffs, much like his stage clothes, are an ode to the gods of rock.
Bassist Sam Kiszka is a multi instrumentalist who switches between bass & keys flawlessly.
"You're The One” showed the bands tender side and sounded amazing. This song truly brought the crowd together.
Drummer Danny Wagner is a powerhouse drummer and his presence is clearly inspired by Mr. John Bonham.
Greta Van Fleet have grown in just two short years; starting out as the next big thing in rock, now they ARE the biggest thing in modern rock. The road to rock stardom was an easy one for the 4 members of Greta Van Fleet; a string of FM rock radio singles, countless sold out tours, and the hoards of adoring fans. Greta Van Fleet are American Rock Royalty in an era where rock has been replaced by hip hop.
This show was sold out and the crowd was submerged in pure rock n roll bliss as they sang along to nearly every song Greta Van Fleet performed.
Jake Kizska had fans captivated as he shimmied through chunky rhythms and emotion drenched leads; his playing is clearly influencing a young generation to pick up electric guitars and create loud rock music!
It's inspiring to see how far the band has come in such a short period of time. The entire band were smiling, joking, and interacting with the audience as if they were all one big family.
"Black Smoke Rising" & "Curtain Falls" closed the evening in true rock n roll style. On a Tuesday Night in Baltimore it’s impressive that Greta Van Fleet were able to draw 5,000+ fans to their concert.
